If you’ve ever ended up on the weird part of the Internet, you may have come across the seriously NSFW, sometimes sacrilegious work of Giulia.
The artist, who goes by @scientwehst on Instagram, has amassed a following of over 68,000 with her unique photo collages. They often display the female body in erotic positions overlain with images of architecture, oftentimes of churches.
“It started with me creating random pornographic collages where I would replace genitalia with images that looked phallic or yonic, typically food,” she told Highsnobiety.
“This slowly evolved into me looking for any images that resembled a female body, which was then refined into me looking for only architectural images that resembled the female form.”
Who knew a church altar looked so much like… well, something else?
For Giulia, it’s all about shaking up our sensibilities and breaking down taboos.
“I feel more honored to be welcomed in a space with such passionate people, some who have committed their lives to studying and breaking barriers surrounding sex, sexuality and censorship; I’m humbled,” she added.
“To contribute to these conversations feels incredibly fulfilling.
