Seth Rogen Slams Sony’s Plans to Release ‘Clean’ Versions of ‘Step Brothers’ and ‘Talladega Nights’

If enjoy films like Step Brothers and Talladega Nights not for their raunchy, excrement-oriented humor but rather for their rich storytelling and artistic merit, Sony Pictures has an exciting offer.

The entertainment giant plans to release “clean versions” of P-13 and R-rated movies on streaming platforms like iTunes, VUDU and FandangoNOW. The intention is to provide more family-friendly versions, much like the tamed-down versions you see on television and airplanes. 

“Clean version movies bring your favorite action-packed blockbusters home with adapted versions appropriate for a wider audience,” Sony said on its website. “Feel more comfortable sharing your favorite movies together.”

Expectedly, lovers of X-rated potty humor are having none of it, perhaps because “clean versions” of Step Brothers and Talladega Nights would likely have a screen time of just five minutes. 

Seth Rogen is the most prominent voice to speak out against the initiative, asking Sony, “Please don’t do this to our movies.”

We can’t wait for the kid-friendly edit of “Boats ‘N Hoes.” Suggestions: “Boats ‘N Legos,” “Boats ‘N Empowering the Next Generation of Female Leaders,” or “Boats ‘N the Importance of Flossing.”
