Watch as Shaq Takes the ‘One Chip Challenge’ and It Sets His Mouth on Fire

Painful.

On the court Shaquille O’Neal was 7’1″ of unstoppable muscle. Just one naturally huge, strong, fast man. He’s become a notably funny TV personality and sports commentator, but the guy still seems like a force of nature.

At least he did until he was confronted with the One Chip Challenge.

It’s a simple stunt—basically you see if you can stand eating just one Paqui Carolina Reaper chip. The Carolina Reaper is the hottest pepper in the world, according to the 2013 Guinness Book of World Records.

Reporters and a few celebs have given it a try on-air to mostly terrible results—including the Denver news anchor above who straight-up puked from the trauma.

We don’t know if Shaq really knew what he was getting into in the Instagram video of the stunt. After all, he’d bet Charles Barkley $20 that he could eat it and not “even make a face.”

Well, he damn sure made some faces. The best part is when he caves and asks for milk at the end.

Shaq isn’t the only person whose confidence in their ability to handle a gazillion scovilles of Reaper heat has been shaken once they actually tried it.

Kristen Bell and Michael Peña gave it a shot for The Ellen Show in September and they pretty much suffered the same fate as Shaq—though if you watch the video below, Bell actually comes through like a champ compared to Peña or the giant formerly known as Kazaam.

Would you try the One Chip Challenge?

If it took down a big man like Shaq, we’re not even sure it should be legal.
