Homer’s Worst Enemy Is Returning To ‘The Simpsons’

We’ve kind of missed you, Grimesy.

Way back in season eight of The Simpsons, lovable donut-addicted oaf Homer Simpson acquired a single-episode nemesis: nuclear power plant co-worker Frank Grimes, a.k.a. “Grimesy.”

As the video above illustrates, Grimesy wasn’t long for the world of Springfield—dealing with Homer’s generally unquestioned idiocy drove the hyper-responsible and uptight Grimes to insanity, and death.

That’s why Simpsons executive producer Al Jean tells Entertainment Weekly that Grimes’s return will only be a cameo—but appropriately it will be in “Treehouse of Horror” XXVII, the long-running cartoon’s annual Halloween-themed episode.

In this, the show’s 600th airing, Jean says a group of baddies including (of course) Sideshow Bob and a ghostly Grimes form “a sinister squadron of Simpsons enemies to try to kill the Simpsons.”

Cameo or not, Grimesy’s return should be fun, because Jean told EW that the character, voiced by cast member Hank Azaria, is “certainly madder at Homer than ever.”

This very special “Treehouse of Horror” airs October 16, 2016, and we can’t wait to see horrors await Homer, Marge, and the kids this time.
