Slipknot’s New Video For “XIX” Brings Halloween Early

Don’t watch this in the dark.

Slipknot’s latest video for “XIX” off of their 2014 release .5: The Gray Chapter is pretty scary, as far as music videos go. You wouldn’t really think of Slipknot as the most seasonally on-the-ball band, unless it just so happens to be a few weeks outside of Halloween, which it currently is.

“This song is not for the living / This song is for the dead,” Director/Slipknot percussionist Shawn Crahan narrates to open the track. “Walk with me / Just like we should have done right from the start,” sings frontman Corey Taylor. “Walk with me / Don’t let this fucking world tear you apart.”

Slipknot wrote “XIX” as a tribute to former bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010 from an accidental painkiller overdose.
