A ‘Star Wars’ TV Series May Be Coming Soon
What does George Lucas have to say about this?
Chatter from this year’s Television Critics Association press tour is hinting at ABC’s latest programming direction to a galaxy far, far away.
When asked if the network was even remotely interested in a new series based off the growing Star Wars universe, entertainment president Channing Dungey admitted that everyone is ready to make it happen as soon as possible.
“As a fan I would absolutely love to say yes,” Dungey said during her TCA executive session. “We have had conversations with [Lucasfilm] and we will continue to have conversations with them. I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand onto our programming.”
Dungey later went on to say that while the talks are ongoing, nothing is exactly confirmed. “If you feel Marvel is secretive, Lucas takes it to a whole other level,” she said.
We know how capable Disney is of producing an animated series, as Star Wars Rebels thrives on Disney XD, but it’s questionable if they’d be able to pull off a live action Star Wars series (with at least 10-12 episodes) without a massive budget in tow.
Just hope whatever they do, they don’t bring back Jar-Jar.
