These Are the Five Rappers Joining the Straight Outta Compton Sequel

Because $60.2 million in one weekend deserves revisiting.

When a film banks $60.2 million at the box office for an opening weekend, it’s clear there’s a definite interest in the subject matter. So with the N. W. A biopic Straight Outta Compton winning praise as “explosively entertaining” and “undeniably of the moment” and emerging as the biggest ever August debut for an R-rated movie — sorry, American Pie 2 — there’s no wonder that the directors will go back for seconds in a sequel entitled Dogg Pound 4 Life.

Daz Dillinger of the hip hop duo The Dogg Pound confirmed the sequel to TMZ, saying the film would bring Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Kurupt and Dillinger into the mix. Starting where Compton left off in 1991, the sequel will revolve around music made by Dogg Pound. The film is also expected to feature Suge Knight.

Interest in a sequel will likely be high; after all,  Compton had a bigger opening than previous rap biopics like 8 Mile and Notorious, as well as summer blockbusters Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. It even inspired Dr. Dre, portrayed by  Corey Hawkins in the movie, to release a new album. And if the sequel is anything like the original, audiences are in for one hell of a look at hip-hop history.
