Taissa Farmiga and Nina Dobrev Join the ‘Scream Queen’ Roster with The Final Girls

The horror-comedy’s vintage vibes are bringing back all the bloody, good feels.

After a successful screening at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, the hype behind The Final Girls has been overwhelming. The film, said to be a good mix of old school-meets-new school (think Friday the 13th and Cabin in the Woods meets Wet Hot American Summer) puts a fun twist on the slasher genre we know and love.

As Max (AHS original, Taissa Farmiga) attends a screening of a retro slasher film starring her late mother, an unforeseen fire forces her and her friends (including Nina Dobrev, fresh off her Vampire Diares retirement) to find any means of escape. Their unconventional route through the screen lands them directly in the film, putting them in the way of horny camp counselors and a deranged psycho killer.

The film’s trailer promises us a fun ride, and we’re counting the days to October 6th. It’s about time we got some updated rules on just how to survive a horror movie.
