Revisit 1970s New York With This 40th Anniversary Trailer For ‘Taxi Driver’

You talkin’ to me?

It’s been 40 years since Robert De Niro cruised through seedy New York City streets of yore as vigilante cabbie Travis Bickle. To mark the 40th anniversary of Taxi Driver, Park Circus just dropped a stunningly cool revamped trailer that salutes the 1976 classic.

The clip is surprisingly muted and lyrical, a far cry from all the splashy “modernized” trailers floating around YouTube.

“All the animals come out at night. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets,” Bickle muses as the clip teases the film’s most memorable moments.

The trailer coincides with a limited theatrical release throughout August. Screenings will run a 2011 digital restoration of the film, all the better to feel the full force of director Martin Scorsese’s groundbreaking vision.
