‘The Godfather’ Trilogy Celebrates 50th Anniversary With 4K Ultra HD Trailer

The greatest mob movie trilogy ever has been remastered in 4K Ultra HD for the very first time.

The Godfather and The Godfather II are widely considered to be among the greatest movies ever made. And while the recently-remastered The Godfather III , has never ranked in the same cinematic pantheon of the first two films, the final installment in the epic trilogy also has its fans.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Godfather, Paramount dropped a new trailer weaving together all three films. The ultimate mob movie trilogy will be re-released in 4K Ultra HD on March 22, with the movies having been meticulously restored by director Francis Ford Coppola‘s team.

“I am very proud of The Godfather, which certainly defined the first third of my creative life,” said Coppola in a statement announcing the remastered movies.  “With this 50th anniversary tribute, I’m especially proud Mario Puzo’s THE GODFATHER, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone is included, as it captures Mario and my original vision in definitively concluding our epic trilogy.”

“It’s also gratifying to celebrate this milestone with Paramount alongside the wonderful fans who’ve loved it for decades, younger generations who still find it relevant today, and those who will discover it for the first time.”

No movie changed Hollywood more than THE GODFATHER. From the bestselling novel by Mario Puzo to box-office blockbuster, its influential legacy endures to this day. Starring Marlon Brando in his Oscar®-winning performance as the patriarch of the Corleone family, this first installment in the three-movie saga paints a dramatic portrait of the Sicilian clan’s rise and near fall from power in America.

Balanced between the Corleone’s commitment to family and the ugly crime business in which they are engaged, it features career-making performances by Al Pacino, James Caan, Talia Shire, Diane Keaton and Robert Duvall.

This searing and brilliant masterpiece garnered ten Academy Award® nominations, and won three, including Best Picture. Featuring: Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, John Cazale, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Sterling Hayden, Richard Conte, Talia Shire, Al Lettieri.

The Godfather trilogy is available for the first time on 4K Ultra HD and Digital beginning March 22.
