Watch the First Official Trailer for ‘Kingsman’ Prequel ‘The King’s Man’
“Real power is not found running off to war. Real power lies in understanding who it is you’re truly fighting.”
The first official trailer for Kingsman prequel The King’s Man offers a look at the WWI-era origin story behind the world’s first secret super agents.
Director Matthew Vaughn returns to helm the movie, which stars Ralph Fiennes as explorer and author—and presumably, OG Kingsman—T.E. Lawrence and Harris Dickinson as an eager soldier who is pulled from his path to the frontline’s trenches and recruited to join the covert organization.
Here’s the official synopsis:
As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency in The King’s Man, directed by Matthew Vaughn.
As Collider notes, the above suggests that the Great War will be depicted as a diabolical scheme planned by evil persons of power in the movie. This quote from Fiennes’s character lends credence to that idea: “Real power is not found running off to war. Real power lies in understanding who it is you’re truly fighting. And how they can be defeated.”
Also starring Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance, The King’s Man hits theaters in February of 2020.
