The National Are Making a Grateful Dead Tribute Album

Grateful Dead fans are getting a special gift from The National. The indie-rock band has put together, Day of the Dead, a 59-track tribute to the Dead that’s out on May 20. The six-hour-long compilation will benefit Red Hot, the HIV/AIDS non-profit. 

Produced by Aaron Dessner and co-produced by Bryce Dessner and Josh Kaufman, the box set includes covers of iconic Dead songs by the National, Wilco, the Flaming Lips, Jenny Lewis, Stephen Malkmus, Courtney Barnett, Perfume Genius, the War on Drugs, and many more.
