At last year’s Wrestlemania 32, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ronda Rousey were a central part of one of night’s most entertaining bits, as they confronted and came to blows with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. This year, at Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas, they could play an even bigger role.
According to PWInsider, the WWE wants to use the two superstars to make Wrestlemania 32’s main event a little more of an event. As it stands, Triple H and Roman Reigns will meet for a match that’s led some wrestling fans to wonder if they should even watch.
Reigns, despite the WWE’s push to turn him into the promotion’s next megastar, is not well-liked and Triple H, who works outside the ring as an executive at the WWE, is seen as an egomaniac who’s awarding himself the prime spot on wrestling’s biggest night.
Enter Johnson and Rousey. PWInsider suggests that the duo could join Reigns in his corner with Stephanie and Vince McMahon in the corner of Triple H. From there, they could probably hit someone with a chair or something.
At the moment, this is just a rumor, but it’s not a difficult one to buy. After all, the WWE was reportedly trying to get both Johnson and Rousey to get into the ring at Wrestlemania 32. Both, however, are being prevented form doing that because of Hollywood-related obligations.
Given the WWE’s stated goal of breaking the all-time Wrestlemania attendance on April 3, using the star power of Johnson and Rousey makes a lot of sense—even if neither of them will be able to get inside the ropes.
