With his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live‘s season finale, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson finally answered questions as to whether he’s running for president in 2020. He is, and he’s bringing Tom Hanks along with him.
Since Hanks—who was there to mark Johnson’s fifth hosting gig as well—is like America’s favorite dad and Johnson the country’s favorite buff big brother it was a fun bit, but that’s all it was. And with that bit, the last show of SNL‘s 42nd season was off and running. It was a lot like the season in general, an uneven blend of hilarious and bizarre, but with a lot more Rock to go around.

In WWE Promo Shoot, Koko WatchOut (Johnson) and Trashyard Mutt—cast member Bobby Moynihan, in his final episode—are a pair of wrestlers trying to navigate the difference between their offscreen everyday personas and the trash-talking they have to do to promote their match.
In the very funny digital short “Enhancement Drug,” Johnson was at his straight-faced best as a construction worker who’s discovered the powers of Xentrex, the world’s most powerful male enhancement medication. “Ask your ketamine guy” for leads on getting Xentrex.
Kenan Thompson played a very put-upon rapper named Big Chris who in the process of introducing a new track featuring multiple artists discovers the list of guest appearances is endless, including Prinsexxxy (Leslie Jones), Sno’Cone (Mikey Day), King Keef (Dwayne Johnson), Lil’ Nitwit (Alex Moffat), Skiffle (Bobby Moynihan), Katy Perry, and in one of the funniest moments, Tom Hanks as David S. Pimpkins.
For a fun look back at Dwayne Johnson’s past appearances on SNL, you can also watch the video below, in which he reacts to sketches he was in.
Saturday Night Live is over until the fall, when it will likely return with new cast members replacing vets Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer, who is also leaving the show.
We’ll totally vote Hanks/Johnson in 2020 if Tom Hanks tours as David S. Pimpkins/Pumpkins.
