Thor Battles Cate Blanchett’s Scary-Hot Goddess of Death In The Kickass International Trailer For ‘Thor: Ragnarok’
We’re already pumped, let’s go.
Now we know Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Strange will show up in Thor: Ragnarok. That’s one of the takeaways from the international trailer, released earlier this week.
Unlike many similar trailers, this one isn’t just the first release re-cut with a hyped Japanese announcer doing voice-over. There’s ample extra footage—in addition to the mysterious scene with the Sorceror Supreme—to prime us for the action to come.
That includes more of Cate Blanchett’s frightening and disturbingly hot Hela, Goddess of Death.
We also are clear on the Hulk-Thor dynamic in this movie: It’s basically a buddy pic.
The plot, as far as we know, is this:
Thor’s world is about to explode in Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. His devious brother, Loki, has taken over Asgard, the powerful Hela has emerged to steal the throne for herself and Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe. To escape captivity and save his home from imminent destruction, Thor must first win a deadly alien contest by defeating his former ally and fellow Avengers… The Incredible Hulk!
One thing worth noting is that while none of the Marvel films are as grim as any given DC superhero flick, they’ve all had some weight. This one seems to have a bit more of a Guardians of the Galaxy spirit to it—a little lighter, funnier, and more fun in general.
Thor: Ragnarok promises one hell of a ride. It’s in theaters on November 3rd.
