Throwback Thursday: September 2000

Check out what we were up to in September of '00. Don't worry, we'll leave out our middle school class picture.

Every week, we send someone stumbling into the dark Maxim archives to see what we were up to way back when. This week we’re going back to September 2000, before Kirsten Dunst was an indie goddess, we didn’t have to search for Oreo O’s on eBay, and eyeliner-wearing emo dudes were a new phenomenon.

Cover Girl: Kirsten Dunst

Where You’ve Seen Her: When Kirsten Dunst first came on the Hollywood scene at the ripe old age of 12 (Interview with the Vampire, Little Women), we were still obsessing over ladies like Winona Ryder. But with films like The Virgin Suicides, Dick, and Bring It On, by 2000 it was clear the former child star had made the jump to bona fide blonde bombshell.

Where She Is Now: With over 15 years of acting experience under her belt, Kirsten transitioned from teenybopper flicks to successful studio and indie films. Most recently starring as a bipolar newlywed in Melancholia, one of Jack Kerouac’s many heroines in On The Road, and the beautiful Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man, Kirsten has established herself as one of the greatest actors in the biz. And if you ask us, she’s way better looking than Robert De Niro.

Featuring:

Cereal Killer

Like most normal people, we like our breakfast filled with sugary artificial goodness, and so did our predecessors. Unfortunately with this asinine “health” fad on the rise, our favorite processed foods have been shoved out of grocery stores nationwide and replaced with things like tofu. What kind of world chooses Kashi over Oreo O’s?! Not one we want to live on. On the bright side, eBay still has some for sale, so there may be a smidgen of hope left.

Preppy Punk

Needless to say, we have nothing but love for bands like The Stooges, The Clash, and The Damned, but we believe slapping on a kilt and painting on some heavy eyeliner should be left to legitimate rock stars, not some tit out for a stroll on his dad’s country estate. We are deeply sorry for this fashion spread.
