Tom Hardy Is Already Planning on Starring in TWO ‘Venom’ Sequels
Plus: Listen to Eminem’s new “Venom” theme song here.
Successful superhero movies inevitably spawn multiple sequels, so it’s hardly shocking that Tom Hardy’s buzzy Marvel anti-hero flick Venom is already being positioned as yet another multiplex-dominating franchise.
Hardy has already signed on for two more Venom movies if the first one does well.
But don’t expect Hardy’s razor-toothed character to start popping up in the next blockbuster Avengers movie, as Venom is apparently sealed off in his own standalone universe.
The first film, in which Hardy plays both Eddie Brock and his monstrous alter-ego, is set to drop on October 5. Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Riz Ahmed and Jenny Slate co–star.
Speaking to Total Film, Hardy said: “We’ve signed up for three of them. So it’s very much an open case.”
“We’ll see what people’s responses are to it. I think it’s an awesome character. I love playing both of them.”
He also opined about how Venom could exist in his own universe, separate from other Marvel franchises.
“It’s an amuse-bouche,” Hardy said of the first Venom. “And, for Sony, it’s the Venom-verse launched in isolation, as it were.
“We’re all prepped for it to be a standalone universe. So whatever Sony want to attach to it at a later date, it’s a fulcrum piece. But let’s see what happens when it lands.”
Meanwhile, just as Marvel’s Black Panther enlisted Kendrick Lamar to anchor the soundtrack of that comic book blockbuster, Eminem is handling the theme song for Venom.
Right before he dropped his surprise new album Kamikaze, the rapper shared a snippet of the tune here:

“Venom! Knock knock, let the devil in!” goes the catchy refrain.
With that and the movie’s October release, you just know Venom is gonna be the most inescapable Halloween costume since Margot Robbie played Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad.
