Watch Trevor Noah’s First Daily Show Monologue

The new host acknowledged that he had some big shoes to fill.

Jon Stewart was a late night TV institution. In his 16 years as host of The Daily Show he became the de facto leader in the “war on bullshit,” skewering everyone from politicians to the media.  So when Comedian Trevor Noah officially took over hosting duties last night, he vowed to continue fighting that war.

Noah’s first monologue and segment was self-deprecating — he acknowledged that he had some big shoes to fill, made jokes about the Pope’s visit, and lamented John Boehner’s departure. (“Why leave now? I just got here. I got a fancy suit and new set and I learned how to pronounce your name.”) Check out Noah’s first run as a host, below.
