Like most hip hop artists with enormous music video budgets, Jeezy likes to keep things cinematic. The Atlanta-certified trap king is tying together the final loose ends before dropping his eighth studio album, Church In These Streets, on Friday, November 13th. Thirteen days before the 13th, Jeezy started a “13 Days In November” kickoff campaign, delivering a gift everyday until the album arrives. Day Number 9 brings the Maxim premiere of the meaningful track “Change The World.”
The song first arrived during the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March, where Jeezy dropped his Politically Correct EP, a project filled with socially-charged tracks in light of the monumental date. This video is a testament to that, but the Snowman adds a really unexpected twist. The video presents a best and a worst-case scenario (not in that order) of what happens between young black men and the police. The star of the video is a recent high school grad, who in one instance loses his life while gripping his diploma, and in the other…well, it’s better that you watch it for yourself. Your ugly cry will be worse than Claire Danes during that one scene in Homeland. Trust. Check out the visuals, and if you’re into seeing Jeezy in real life, his tour dates are below:
November 12 New York, NY The Highline Ballroom
November 17 Chicago, IL Thalia Hall
November 18 Philadelphia, PA Union Transfer
November 22 Los Angeles, CA Mayan Theatre
November 25 Atlanta, GA Tabernacle
November 27 New Orleans, LA House of Blues
