The Real Reason The Rock Was So Furious at ‘Fast 8’ Co-Star Vin Diesel

The battle of the balds rages on.

New details have emerged from the set of Fast 8, where Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel got into a heated big, bad, bald-guy spat that culminated in The Rock calling someone—and all signs have pointed to Vin—a “candy ass” on social media.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Rock had simply had enough of Vin’s “I’m the star of $3 billion franchise” behavior, especially on-set tardiness.

On Aug. 8 Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was ready to shoot one of his final scenes with Vin Diesel on Fast 8, the next film in Universal’s $4 billion-and-counting franchise. With the 90-degree Atlanta sun beating down, Johnson, director F. Gary Gray and the crew waited patiently for Diesel to emerge from his trailer. And they kept waiting. Throughout the 100-day shoot, the actor and Fast franchise producer often delayed his co-stars, which didn’t seem to bother them. Well, no one except Johnson.

“My female co-stars are always amazing, and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story,” Johnson posted to Facebook that night.

“Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.”

THR reports that the next day, as word leaked he was the candy ass in question, Vin confronted The Rock in his trailer, which culminated in a rather heated exchange. Vin even took fire at The Rock for a joke he made on his HBO show Ballers where he said he’s “bigger” and “better looking” than him.

Secrets revealed.

Even so, top brass at Universal don’t seem too concerned about this fight putting the fate of the film behind the eight ball.

“What happened is over, and no one expects there to be any lingering effects,” a studio source told THR. “When it comes time to promote the movie, this will have no bearing.”

That’s all well and good, but these details regrettably disprove our initial theory: that they were fighting over who has the most shiny dome.
