Vin Diesel: The Rock’s Role in ‘Fast and Furious’ Was Meant For Tommy Lee Jones

He's being nicer than it sounds, though.

The feud between Vin Diesel and The Rock may be cooling off. When Diesel said in a Facebook video that Johnson’s role as imposing federal agent Luke Hobbs was originally meant for aging icon Tommy Lee Jones it initially sounded like shade, sure, but it’s not.

Diesel indicated Johnson had fans to thank for his role in the series.

Addressing Facebook viewers directly, Diesel said, “I was asking ‘Who should I work with?’ The reason why we brought Dwayne Johnson into Fast Five was because of you.”

Diesel mentioned someone working behind the scenes on Fast 5 who said she’d love to see Big Balds square off, and said, “[We] gave a role that was initially written for Tommy Lee Jones but we gave it to Dwayne.” According to Vin, The Rock “shined” in the role.

While it may take time for the wounds to heal, that gracious note gives us the feeling these guys will get back to some kind of massive bald superstar equilibrium soon. We can only hope. Watch Vin’s video below to get the low-down.
