The Wasp May Be on Her Way

Spoilers ahead: with hints at the conclusion of Marvel’s Ant-Man, we’re curious just how long before we see the heroine hit the big screen.

If you haven’t seen Ant-Man, the latest entry in the M.C.U, stop while you’re ahead. Like most of these films, an exclusive post-credit scene provided some insight for what’s to come, and we have to say, we’re pretty damn excited.

Throughout the 117 minutes runtime, several hints were made that left us wondering at what point Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) would don the high-tech suit, turning her into The Wasp. Hope, and just about every comic book nerd in America, had their wish granted when her father, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), revealed the prototype he’d been preparing right before the credits rolled. While there’s potential to see her take flight in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Marvel head Kevin Feige stated why we shouldn’t get our ‘hopes’ up (pun intended).

“There are so many characters in Civil War that we didn’t want to do her a disservice, like she flies in, ‘I’ve got the costume now’, and she flies out,” says Feige. “We haven’t seen her as Wasp and we don’t want to rob the opportunity of seeing her in the outfit for at least almost the first time..”

Regardless of the timing, this is still great news. The Wasp is a huge part of the Avengers, with her character being credited for coming up with the team name in the first place. Also, adding another woman to the line-up adds a little more sexual appeal that we’ve been looking for (sorry Chris Hemsworth, you’re not our type). With the recent addition of Elisabeth Olsen’s ‘Scarlet Witch,’ who was easily one of the coolest parts of Avengers: Age of Ultron, we expect only great things to happen if Evangeline Lilly were to join on the fun… whenever that may be.
