Watch: Ewan McGregor’s ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Is Framed As A Fugitive Jedi In New Disney+ Trailer

May the Fourth be with you.

Star Wars fans were treated to an especially timely May The Fourth gift in the riveting second trailer for Disney+’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series.

Ewan McGregor returns to reprise the titular character for the first time since the 2005 Star Wars installment Revenge of the Sith, which saw him witness the downfall and corruption of Anakin Skywalker, known henceforth as Darth Vader.

Set a decade after the events of the movie, Obi-Wan finds himself exiled and being chased by Jedi-hunting Inquisitors, including Moses Ingram’s Reva. Vanity Fair points out that two crucial details are revealed on the hero’s wanted poster:

This image from showrunner Deborah Chow’s new series tells us how the Empire explained Kenobi’s “crime” to the public. It simply has to be decoded from the Star Wars alphabet known as Aurebesh.

In the lower left corner, the poster reveals why: “Offense—High Treason.” Kenobi is officially an enemy of the state, and the Empire has no problem sharing his image far and wide, acknowledging he survived the purge that wiped out his brethren in Revenge of the Sith.

In the lower right corner of the poster is some more Aurebesh text, and we can infer something else curious from what it declares: “Bounty—Upon Capture.”

Captured. Not dead. That’s a notable difference. The Empire wants Kenobi returned. No doubt, Darth Vader [Hayden Christensen] himself wants his old friend and mentor back in his grasp. But this shows us that the Jedi’s foes do not want him killed by the rogues and scoundrels they are summoning to track him down.

Also joining the cast are Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

Obi-Wan Kenobi begins streaming on Disney+ May 27.
