A Gritty ‘Robin Hood’ Reboot Is Coming, And the Wild First Trailer Hits the Bullseye

It’s packed with archery awesomeness.

“Hey, I know what,” said the Hollywood executive, “We really need a new Robin Hood to wipe the vision of Kevin Costner’s mullet from our minds.”

That didn’t happen, of course, but it’s easy to imagine when you consider the new Robin Hood which hits theaters later this year. Until you see the trailer above, that is. Jamie Foxx’s beard is weird, Kingsman star Taron Egerton’s ‘do is pretty timeless, and there’s a lot of satisfying fire and explosions.

To be fair, this new iteration of the age old story of the good thief who liked to camp out in the forest with his buddies in tights looks familiar. It certainly smells a little like Assassin’s Creed, and it looks a bit like the CW action series Arrow

We all know the basic story, but here’s the plot summary from IMDB: “Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.”

We are seriously down for 16th century battlefield exploits, fire, and English guys in John Wick-style hand-to-hand combat. Looks like we’ll have to check it out when this Robin Hood parkours into theaters on November 21 with nary a mullet in sight.
