Watch Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift Settle Their VMA Beef with a Killer Performance
But wait until you see what words Minaj had for Miley Cyrus.
Fans waited with bated breath to see what would become of the Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift VMAs-related Twitter beef on the actual night of the awards show. After Minaj tweeted about “Anaconda” not being nominated for the Video of the Year back in July and attempted to discuss racism in the music industry, Swift waded in and the two exchanged words. The kerfuffle ended when Swift apologized and tonight, they officially put it to rest with an explosive live performance to open the awards show. Minaj entered with a stunning live performance of “Trini Dem Girls,” then Swift surprised the crowd by joining her for “The Night Is Still Young” and some of “Bad Blood.”
Later in the night, Minaj proudly accepted the VMA for Best Hip Hop video and used the end of her acceptance speech to call host Miley Cyrus out for comments the pop star made to The New York Times last week. Cyrus said, “If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself…What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite.” Watch Minaj respond to the jab, below:
