Weed, Ski Masks, & Famous Friends in Vampire Weekend’s New Video
Don’t worry, no Saabs were harmed in the making of this clip.

For their new, official music video, for “Diane Young,” Vampire Weekend summoned a who’s-who of New York Hipsterdom to evoke what looks to be some sort of Leonardo DaVinci fever dream. There’s Santigold, Chromeo, Skye Ferreira, the Dirty Projectors’ David Longstreth, Walkmen singer Hamilton Leithauser, rapper Despot, and a saxophone packed with weed (which, we have on good authority, is actually a saxophone packed with weed). Rounding out the bizarro cast of characters is some dude looking psychotic in a balaclava. The hiccupy, rockabilly track is great, as is the band’s new album, Modern Vampires in the City, which debuted last week at No. 1. And unlike their last video for the song, which featured a number of Saabs being burned to bits, this one is unlikely to incite the ire of Swedish gearheads.
