Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo loves his country, and he’s every bit as motivated as any red, white, and blue bandanna-wearing country star to let us know.
Even better, Weezer’s new “I Love the USA” is also part of promoting the arrival of NASA’s “Juno” spacecraft in orbit around Jupiter on July 4th.
Rivers Cuomo explains on the band’s website: “We were on tour abroad, and it got me thinking a lot about America, which lead to me write ‘I Love The USA.’ When Apple and NASA asked us to be involved with Juno’s historic landing on July 4th, this song seemed like the perfect fit.”
Weezer is currently touring with Panic! At the Disco and their White Album has been available for download since April 1st.
With the Fourth just a few days away, who isn’t down for some barbecue, beer, and singing along with Weezer as they admit, “I love the USA / Fuck yeah, this place is great.”
Even “Star Spangled Banner” lyricist Francis Scott Key would have to agree with that sentiment.
