Here’s What ‘GoldenEye 007’ Would Look Like As A Modern Shooter
This is the Nintendo 64 classic as you’ve never seen it before
No matter what kind of games you enjoyed during Nintendo 64’s heyday, you probably played the classic GoldenEye 007 at least once. The 1997 shooter based on the Bond film of the same name was extremely popular even among gamers who preferred to ask questions first and shoot later.
And now it’s back, with a gorgeous new remake care of Unreal Engine 4. YouTuber and environmental artist Jude Wilson’s video below re-imagines the seminal shooter, or at least one level of it, as part of an assignment for his master’s degree.
He’s gone through and spiffed things up considerably, having created every single asset you see in the video from scratch. The finished product is an amalgam of modern and classic gaming sensibilities, and a level that looks absolutely fantastic.
The results are surprisingly modern, with the Facility level from the original game remade with painstaking accuracy. It’s a sight to behold, that’s for sure. Now we just need the rest of the game recreated. Someone go ahead and hire this guy already!
