Watch the WWE’s Tribute to Chyna That Aired on ‘Raw’
RIP, Ninth Wonder of the World.
Prior to her sudden death last week, Joanie “Chyna” Laurer was persona non grata in the WWE. Despite her groundbreaking run during the Attitude Era and her public campaign for induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, Chyna remained in exile. It took her death to get Chyna back on Raw.
Monday night’s Raw opened with a graphic commemorating Chyna’s passing and later in the episode, this tribute video aired.
The Los Angeles County Coroner has performed an an autopsy to determine Chyna’s cause of death, but the results may not be known for months, the coroner’s office told The Huffington Post. Police initially suggested that overdose could have been the cause.
Chyna was abusing prescriptions drugs, her publicist told Entertainment Tonight, and he was in the process of getting her on an episode of Intervention.
“The intervention was for the pills to get her under watch,” the unnamed representative told ET. “Two weeks ago I begged her to get under control, and she knew — she knew she had a problem. We talked about it. I believed she was ready to get help and that’s why we were planning an intervention.”
The intervention was supposed to take place within a week of Chyna’s death.
