These Are the World’s 50 Best Restaurants of 2018
Brb, gotta book a flight to Italy.
Our condolences to anyone who has just nabbed a table at last year’s “world’s best restaurant,” Eleven Madison Park in New York City.
Because it’s just been dethroned by Italy’s best, Osteria Francescana from chef Massimo Bottura, on the 2018 “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” list.
It’s arguably the most important culinary ranking in the world, as winners are voted by a panel of 1,000 culinary experts. Although, it has been criticized for favoring fancy European fare and excluding female chefs in the past.
We’re also seriously confounded about why that Cheetos-themed restaurant was left off the list, but whatever…
Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy won top honors once before in 2016, but it was unseated by Eleven Madison Park in 2017. Eleven Madison Park has since fallen to fourth place, but keep in mind that the restaurant was under renovations for much of 2017.
Nonetheless, the list is set to determine where gourmands will travel in 2018… and how long they’ll be willing to wait for a reservation.
