Bulleit, the rye-forward Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey brand, is getting crafty with the release of Bourbon Blenders’ Select No. 001
As its name suggests, the limited-edition bottle is the inaugural expression in Bulleit’s experimental Blenders’ Select series. The medium-amber spirit was crafted by Bulleit blender Eboni Major using limestone-filtered water, Bulleit’s proprietary yeast strain, and three of the 10 distillates featured in the distillery’s core whiskey, each of which was aged for a minimum of 9 years in flame-charred American white oak barrels.
“Fruit-forward, rich and delightfully complex, Bulleit Bourbon Blenders’ Select No. 001 is a true expression of who I am as a blender, Major said of her latest libation. “I am thrilled to be taking risks and pushing boundaries at Bulleit and in the world of whiskey alongside other women who are also making waves in the industry.”
Here are the official tasting notes:
- Nose: Vanilla bean, honey and dried fruit
- Flavor: Rich and fruit-forward with tones of toasted oak
- Finish: Smooth, balanced finish with a lingering of sweet cream
and fruit wine decadence
Bottled at 50 percent ABV, Bulleit Bourbon Blenders’ Select No. 001 will retail for $49.99 at Reserve Bar, Drizly and liquor stores this spring.
