Elon Musk Moves Ahead With the Hyperloop

The impossible train is one step closer to reality.

When Elon Musk unveiled his idea for a hyperloop, the world was captivated. Could the man who founded SpaceX also revolutionize ground travel? Unfortunately, in the years since, Musk hasn’t actually put much money behind his project, letting others pour cash into what could ultimately be an impossible project.

Until now.

Today, SpaceX announced that it is building a one-mile test track, which they will allow separate teams of engineers to compete against one another and perfect the technology.

“While we are not developing a commercial Hyperloop ourselves, we are interested in helping to accelerate development of a functional Hyperloop prototype,” SpaceX said in a statement.

This marks the first time Musk’s company is putting money behind the far-flung idea, possibly frustrated by the lack of progress everyone else has made in the field of Hyperloops. Hold on to your butts!
