While Ferrari will only sell its gorgeous Daytona SP3 supercar to the most prolific purchasers of Prancing Horse automobiles, anyone can cop this 3,778-piece version made by Lego Technic.
Joining the mini Lamborghini Sian in the Lego Technic Ultimate Car Concept series, the 1:8-scale model recreates the latest classically-styled member of Ferrari’s “Icona” collection, from the double-crested front wings to the tapered cockpit bubble and butterfly doors.
Open them up and you’ll find what Lego describes as a “perfectly recreated cockpit with the prancing horse logo resplendent on the steering wheel.” You’ll have to take the Dutch toy brand’s word for it as no images of the interior were provided, but exterior shots show that the 60s-era blue fabric seats have also been reimagined in plastic.
The paired-down powertrain is the most mechanically satisfying component, with a paddle shifter-actuated eight-speed sequential gearbox and a tiny V12 featuring with moving pistons. The completed model measures just over 5.5 inches tall, 23 inches long and 9.5 inches wide, making it a perfect coffee table display piece.
“Thanks to this outstanding recreation with LEGO elements, Ferrari and LEGO fans can now build this car piece-by-piece and feel like they are participants in the assembly process, with the opportunity to display the final model in their own homes, where they will be able to appreciate its beauty,” said head Ferrari designer Flavio Manzoni.
Priced at $399, the Lego Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3 hits Lego retailers on June 1, 2022.
