Your knitwear rotation just got an eco-conscious, stylish upgrade for spring, so don’t stow away your sweaters just yet: Mr. Porter’s in-house line, Mr. P, just launched a 36-piece collection dedicated to ramping up seasonal layering with the environment in mind.
The luxury retailer, already a reliable source for some of the most refined brands on the planet — not to mention an entire assortment of luxury watches — offers its distinctive vision for elegant, yet accessible style through the Mr. P line, culminating in a collection made from recycled materials, surplus yarns and organic fibers.
The collection offers something for everyone, from subtle yet luxurious crew neck sweaters to a surprisingly refined wool-blend hoodie, with a range of pricing suitable for seasoned style aficionados and newcomers (the collection starts at $255 and tops out at $1,100).
The company worked with skilled knitters, spinners and finishers in the Marche region of Italy to deliver a collection rich in color and texture, incorporating reverse stitching, rolled hems, soft-brushed finishes and plenty of colorful depth.
The assortment speaks to refined yet laidback elegance, and many pieces are styled in spring-ready fashion with off-white jeans and sturdy Oxford shoes — the sort of look that’s not out of place at the office or a speakeasy.
Even the boucle-knit T-shirt, made using looped yarn, is striking enough to wear with a soft-shouldered Italian suit and spring loafers.
“Working closely together with our Italian recyclers and makers, we have been able to create everlasting products that all offer a unique look and provide our customers with the opportunity to enrich their knowledge of a product’s lifecycle in a new and more meaningful way,” said Mr. Porter Buying Director Sam Kershaw.
The luxury retailer wants to go a step further down the path towards sustainability, too — this collection is part of its commitment to make its Mr. P brand fully sustainable and circular by 2025.
In short, no fabric will go to waste as part of the company’s Mr. P line, and if future results are as handsome and versatile as these knitwear pieces, we’re excited to see what’s next.
