The Well-Dressed Wireless Speaker
The Vifa Copenhagen is an ode to Nordic simplicity turned up to eleven.
The problem with most portable wireless speakers is that they look like untransformed Decepticons: clunky, vaguely technological bricks pieced together to look obsolete. Not so with the Copenhagen, Vifa’s first wireless speaker, which is a throwback to a time when consumer electronics were made to look good with the couch. Vifa calls the design Nordic, but that’s really just another way to connote simple and elegant with an emphasis on materials.
Apart from the Copenhagen’s aluminum unibody frame, it’s wrapped in a soft wool cover, created by leading European textiles manufacturer Kvadrat. Both are produced in six exceedingly tasteful colors (Sunset Red, Sand Yellow, Ocean Blue, Ice Blue, Anthracite Grey, and Pebble Grey) and weigh in at a substantial 10 pounds. The rechargeable Copenhagen can connect to just about anything—via Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay and Wi-Fi Direct, as well as USB, mini-jack and optical ports via supplied cables—and looks fabulous with a pair of Tom Fords.
