Michigan’s 139-year-old Wolverine boot brand is stepping into Halo’s war-torn future with the launch of The Master Chief.

Named for the video game franchise’s leading Spartan super soldier, the sci-fi-style kicks’ inception lies in internet comments sections. After Wolverine released a video demonstrating the Hellcat silhouette’s safety toe in 2020, fans noted that the work boot looked like the stuff of the Halo universe.

Using this interaction has a jumping off point., Wolverine subsequently worked with Halo developers 343 to render Master Chief’s futuristic combat boots in real life. Each olive pair features numerous details inspired by the games—the most recent title being 2021’s blockbuster Halo Infinite—as well as Paramount+’s newly launched Halo TV series, which premiered on March 24.

A “117” on the exterior counter signifies Master Chief’s Spartan number, while the United Nations Space Command (USNC) insignia adorns the opposite side. The outsole is also outfitted with the logo for “Materials Group,” the manufacturer the elite warfighter’s Mjolnir armor.
