Turns out there’s a better way to boost your sex drive than popping a Viagra or taking some questionable supplements. Horny Goat Weed, anyone? No? Didn’t think so.

According to a new study by researchers from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, cutting your daily calorie intake by 25% can significantly improve your sex life and send your libido into overdrive, even if you’re not overweight.

In the study, 218 participants who had normal to overweight body types were split into two groups, with one group following a low-calorie diet, and the other following a no-restrictions, eat-whatever-you-want diet, for two years. The latter sounds more enjoyable, but just you wait.

By the end of the second year, the calorie-restricted group had lost an average of 16.7 pounds, while the control group didn’t have any significant weight changes. Not only did the test group shed a couple pounds, but they also reported better moods, more energy, better quality sleep, improved relationships, and most importantly, a supercharged sex drive.

Who knew the secret to better sex was as simple as skipping that third slice of pizza?

Dr. Corby Martin, one of the authors of the study, believes that calorie restriction is one of the most important things in keeping healthy and happy. Agreed, because nobody feels sexy after tucking into a calorie-packed Thanksgiving dinner.

Moral of the story? Your penis disapproves of you eating too much. Now, we’re not saying to starve yourself or anything, but it’s always a good idea to stick to the healthier stuff, because healthy is always sexy.
