World’s Hottest Drug Trafficker Arrested in Mexico
Ana Marie Hernandez, a.k.a. “La Muñeca”, (The Doll) may have had a relationship with El Chapo.
Ana Marie Hernandez, whose striking mug has graced US and Mexican Most Wanted lists, has been arrested in Chihuahua, Mexico. Hernandez, nicknamed “La Muñeca,” (the doll) has been on the run since 2013, when she pled guilty to charges of drug trafficking and bribery in an El Paso courtroom.
The San Antonio Express-Newsreported that Hernandez, 38, “used her good looks and wit to smuggle drugs and gain access to senior cartel members in the Sinaloa and Juarez cartels.” DEA official Mike Vigil told the Express-News that attractive women like Hernandez “are highly coveted by the cartel leaders, they bring them into the fold and a lot of times have relationships with them.”
Cartel leaders like Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, whose stunning July escape from a high security Mexican prison embarrassed law enforcement in that country. In fact, after Ana Marie Hernandez started running drugs for the Juarez Cartel, reported the San Antonio paper, she leveled up to become a “large-scale trafficker” for Guzman’s Sinaloa Cartel. Mike Vigil told the paper that he thinks it’s likely Hernandez did indeed have something going on with El Chapo.
Funny enough, El Chapo’s bravura exit from prison probably played a role in capturing Hernandez. Vigil called Chapo’s escape “a significant embarrassment” for Mexican officials, one that has served to ramp up Mexican efforts to nab other fugitives like Hernandez, even as they are closing in on the monkey-loving El Chapo.
Hernandez, who lived a flashy, cash-spending lifestyle while free, will soon be extradited back to the United States for what’s sure to be some of the most attractive mugshots found in any law enforcement database.
