Check Out the World’s First Michelin-Rated Street Food

This food stall is now one of Singapore's best places to eat.

The Michelin Guide is more than just a book of fancy restaurants and hotels. It’s a map to some of the best food in the world, and receiving a Michelin star can seriously impact the success of an eatery.

In Michelin’s Singapore edition, history was made with the first ever street restaurant to be starred in their guide.

Thanks to Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle, run by Chan Hong Meng, a non-traditional restaurant has been named among the cream of the crop.

With 35 years of cooking experience, in combination with training from a Hong Kong chef, Chan’s been able to create a street restaurant so damn good that a line forms before it’s even open.

Chan dropped out of school at 15 to follow his dreams of becoming a chef, after watching his farmer parents tend to their livestock. He’s come incredibly far, and even received an invitation to the Michelin Guide Singapore Galla Dinner this past July.

And if his food tastes half as good as it looks, he certainly deserves the recognition he’s getting.
