Sylvester Stallone must be feeling a little punchy in the wake of all the praise lavished on Creed, the seventh Rocky movie and the first to earn him an Oscar nod since 1977.
While he’s taking a swing at Best Supporting Actor this year, Stallone was previously nominated for Best Actor and Best Screenplay for the original Rocky. The classic underdog flick won Best Picture, but Sly didn’t take home an Oscar himself.
The 69-year-old slugger returned to the site of his greatest glory by sharing a series of black and white stills and behind-the-scenes shots featuring Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed’s first showdown in the ring.
As captivating as these photos are, Stallone’s amped-up Instagram commentary just might be the best part.
Again nostalgia time. I really like looking back at this moment in time…
