Suite of the Week: Sonnenalp’s Castle Peak Suite
An escape from the slopes.
Where is it? Colorado, between Vail Mountain and the town’s main village.
The Hotel: For four generations the Sonnenalp has attracted skiers and tourists interested in exploring the tony town. After bashing through moguls or sweeping down Vail’s pristine higher slopes, skiers head back to the chalet for authentic Swiss cuisine – or opt out of the whole downhill thing and just chill in the spa.
The Suite: The largest of the Sonnenalp rooms, the Castle Peak Suite, is an ode to the plush practicality of the Swiss. Complete with heated marble floors, a giant tub, a gas log fireplace, and a fully stocked bar, the room presents a convincing argument for staying indoors.
The Selling Point: A steamy soak after a day on the slopes.
By The Numbers: 1,600 square feet; 2 bedrooms
