Science Says Short Women and Tall Men Make the Happiest Couples
Get yourself a shawty.
More often than not, women date men who are taller than them, mainly because females are genetically wired to be shorter than their male counterparts.
Of course, there’s the occasional couple where the size difference is flipped and a guy who isn’t as fortunate in the height department finds love in a taller woman, but that’s not as common.
But did you know that the short wife/tall husband combo might be one of the secrets to a happy and successful marriage? Really! So that’s good news for all you big dudes who have pint-sized girlfriends.
In a 2017 study, researchers surveyed over 8,000 participants and found that there’s a direct correlation between the ratio of a man’s height to his wife’s and their marital happiness and satisfaction, meaning the taller you are than your wife, and the more inches you have separating you height-wise, the better your relationship will be.
Not surprisingly, the reason for this stature-related phenomenon has everything to do with evolution, biology, and psychology.
As we all know, males and females have different physical and mental characteristics for very specific evolutionary purposes. Men are larger in stature than women because they’ve been protecting and providing for their mates and children since prehistoric times.
And when a man is taller and larger than his mate, it’s an indication that he’s strong and dominant and better able to protect his family, which does wonders for his ego, and therefore makes him happy. Likewise, it makes a woman happy when her guy can take care of her and her bambinos, and even though it’s 2018 and we don’t live in prehistoric times, this explanation is still completely valid, because it’s literally hardwired in our DNA. You can’t argue with biology.
Furthermore, echoing a previous study, the researchers also revealed that the taller a man is, the more earning potential he has, which makes women very, very happy. I mean, yet another study uncovered the indisputable fact that chicks dig a man with a fat wallet more than anything else, which should give you an idea on just how important financial security is.
And I already know what you’re thinking, so I’m going to stop you before you get ahead of yourself — No, she’s not a gold digger if she wants to marry someone who has money, because as much as some people hate to admit it, money talks, bullshit walks.
To elaborate on why taller men have financial perks, it was found that employers see vertically blessed dudes as more trustworthy and more capable, which is why they’re the first to be considered for promotions and raises.
Anyway, you should also know that the researchers discovered a significant decline in marital satisfaction after 18 years together no matter how tall the man is, which means the “I Love My Tall Husband” spell doesn’t last forever. Sorry.
