2012’s year in music has been dominated by new faces (fun., Gotye, Carly Rae Jepson, Psy) but no artist dominated both the pop culture and critical landscapes quite like Frank Ocean, the soul savant who racked up six Grammy nominations (including Album of the Year, Best New Artist and Record of the Year) and whose debut, Channel Orange, is killing it on all sorts of year-end best of lists as well. This recently leaked clip of Ocean covering the Radiohead classic “Fake Plastic Trees” at a Spotify concert last week gives you some idea of what the hype is all about:
