Airbnb Offering 18-Country Trip Inspired By ‘Around the World in 80 Days’
Guests will travel across six continents, 18 countries, two oceans and five seas in eight different modes of transportation (including a hot air balloon)…all for a surprisingly cheap price.
Airbnb has previously offered special-edition stays at exotic locations like the Louvre, an authentic WWII train car, and even a shark aquarium.
Now the online house-sharing service is serving up a full-fledged vacation around the globe with its new “Around the World in 80 Days” package.
Inspired by the classic Jules Verne novel of the same name, the 80-day excursion takes guests across six continents, 18 countries, two oceans and five seas in eight different modes of transportation, including a hot air balloon.
Amazingly, all travel, lodging, meals and activities are included in the $5,000-per-head price tag.
The “Around the World in 80 Days” experience was devised to promote Airbnb Adventures. The new program boasts 200 trips across six continents that are “either entirely exclusive to Airbnb, or provided by small, local operators that are not typically found on any other major booking platform” and suited to everyone from the leisurely vacationer to the thrill-seeking adrenaline junkie.
Some of the most exciting examples include 10 days of river rafting in Yukon, a camel-back trek through Oman, a cliff-side campout on a Colorado mountain, a warrior bootcamp in Kenya, a culinary kayaking excursion through Swedish islands, and a chance to try out cowboy life in the American west.
Each is lead by a local expert and capped at 12 participants. Prices range drastically based on location and what accommodations are included, from $79 for an overnight trip to $5,000 for a 10-day expedition. Travel to the destination, whether it’s three-hour drive or a five-hour flight away, is not included.
