All Of Amber Heard’s Huge Divorce Settlement with Johnny Depp Will Go to Charity
The newly-single actress is splitting donations between causes she cares about.
After the accusations of abuse and after video documenting Johnny Depp’s volatility, Amber “World’s Most Beautiful Woman” Heard and Depp reached a $7 million divorce settlement. But things didn’t end there—in a totally boss move, the former Maxim cover girl turned around and donated all the money to two of her favorite charities.
Some of the money will go to the ACLU to aid its efforts combating domestic abuse, with the remaining going to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Variety reported that Heard has been volunteering at the hospital for a decade.
The couple was married for a mere 18 months. When they split, Amber Heard accused Johnny Depp of abusive behavior and at one point even swore out a restraining order. However in a statement issued upon reaching their settlement, Heard and Depp said that while their “relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile,” it “always bound by love.”
Regarding her donations to such good causes, Variety reported that Heard issued a statement in which she said “money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves.”
So Amber Heard is a free woman again, and she has a powerful social conscience to boot. But give her some room, guys, before you start seeking any donations to your own charities—divorce is rough.
