Confirming what the Irish, Dutch and Germans have known for years, beer is more effective at relieving pain than wack-ass medical strategies, like popping a couple Tylenol.
Researchers at University of Greenwich in London found that tossing back two pints of brew—about enough to raise blood alcohol to about 0.08%, in some of us, at least—increases pain resistance more effectively than paracetamol does.

Common forms of paracetamol include Tylenol, Panadol and Anacin.
Researchers analyzed 18 different studies to land at their conclusion. They opined that their findings “explain alcohol misuse in those with persistent pain, despite its potential consequences for long-term health.”
So researchers are not necessarily endorsing drinking copious amount of beer rather in lieu of a relatively harmless paracetamol pill. In fact, they caution against alcohol consumption’s negative consequences.

Lead researcher Dr. Trevor Thompson told The Sun, “It can be compared to opioid drugs such as codeine, and the effect is more powerful than paracetamol.”
“If we can make a drug without the harmful side effects then we could have something that is potentially better than what is out there at the moment.”
May we suggest tequila?
