Even big dudes get the blues.

Former WWE champ and current action superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been opening up about the toughest times in his life.

First—in a recent Instagram post from the set of his HBO hit Ballers shot at the grave of his fictional brother who committed suicide on the show—the 45 year old wrote about his mom’s suicide attempt when he was just 15 years old.

“She got outta the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic,” he wrote in the caption. “Big rigs and cars swerving outta the way not to hit her. I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road. What’s crazy about that suicide attempt is to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever. Probably best she doesn’t.”

Rough stuff.

Then, while doing press for his upcoming monster flick, Rampage, he revealed even more. “Struggle and pain is real. I was devastated and depressed,” he told The Express. “I reached a point where I didn’t want to do a thing or go anywhere, I was crying constantly.”

He thanked his fans for their support for his revealtion in a heartfelt tweet.

“We all go thru the sludge/shit and depression never discriminates,” he declared. “Took me a long time to realize it but the key is to not be afraid to open up. Especially us dudes have a tendency to keep it in. You’re not alone”

It’s an important message from a mega-celeb who, from all accounts, is also a great human being.
