Indian Motorcycle Debuts Sport Chief Performance Cruiser For 2023
Meet the most aggressive Indian Chief in the cruiser’s 100-year history.
The newest Indian Chief is ready to ride harder than any of its siblings right from the factory. The 2023 Sport Chief is essentially the highest-performing variant in Indian Motorcycle’s cruiser range, which encompasses both the Chief and Scout families.
Accordingly, it gets the heftiest powerplant—the same liquid-cooled, 116 cubic-inch (1,890cc) Thunderstroke V-twin that produces 120 pound-feet of torque the Indian Chief Dark Horse, the previous Chief lineup leader.
The Sport Chief also gets a distinct quarter-fairing, moto-style handlebars, an adaptive headlight, and a four-inch digital touchscreen with Indian’s Ride Command interface, which allows riders to link their phone via Bluetooth. But what really sets the Sport Chief apart from its brethren are the upgraded suspension and brakes.
The Sport Chief features KYB inverted front forks, dual-disc four-piston Brembo Brembo brakes and piggyback FOX shocks that increase travel to four-inches and lean angle to 29.5 degrees.
The result, as Indian puts it, is “the most aggressive iteration of the Indian Chief,” which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021. For those sport/naked bike riders considering a stylish, bag-less cruiser that can take a corner, the Sport Chief could very well be the best stock option.
Not to mention, the bike comes murdered-out in the Scout Bobber’s Black Smoke scheme as standard, though Ruby Smoke, Stealth Gray, and Spirit Blue Smoke are available for slight upcharges.
Priced from $18,999 the Indian Sport Chief is available to build now online.
