Kinky ’50 Shades’ Sex Has Awesome Health Benefits, According to Science

Find out why BDSM in the bedroom is actually GOOD for you...

Ever wondered why Anastasia and Christian speak in such soft, cool cadences in the Fifty Shades Darker trailer? They’re probably super mellow after being ball-gagged in Christian’s sex dungeon all day.

It sounds contradictory, but it’s not. A new study published in Psychology of Consciousness: Theory, Research, and Practice determined that engaging in some light (or heavy) BDSM correlates to a more relaxed and easy-breezy mindset.

The study brought together 14 “experienced BDSM practitioners” between the ages of 23 and 64 and then let them go wild, with everything from light touching to full-on thrashing and bondage (sounds fun). Mood surveys and saliva swaps were administered afterwards to determine the mental states of participants.

Researchers found that those who took on the submissive role reported “transient hypofrontality,” or the pleasant sensation that time had slowed down. On the other end of the flogger, doms reported a stronger sense of control, diminishing self-consciousness and improved creativity.

So Picasso was probably super into flogging, basically.

Next time you wanna chill out, don’t just crush a six pack or roll a joint—it might be worth experimenting with that leather ass paddle and fur handcuffs you’ve been meeting to try out with your girl in the bedroom. C’mon, don’t be scared.
