It was “the first date from hell.”

A man is suing a woman he took on a “first date from hell” for the price of a movie ticket after she texted during a showing of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

“This is one of my biggest pet peeves,” 37-year-old Brandon Vezmar told the American Statesman. after filing a claim for $17.31 with the Travis County small claims court in Austin, Texas.

The man claims that the woman, who wishes not to be named, began texting about 15 minutes after the movie began and continued “activate her phone at least 10-20 times in 15 minutes to read and send text messages” throughout.

He reportedly asked her step outside of the theater if she insisted on continuing. She left and drove away, leaving Vezmar without a ride.

Assuming his account of what happened is accurate, she definitely exhibited poor first date etiquette. But the notion of filing a lawsuit, as the woman described in a series of text messages Vezmar tweeted, is “insane.”

OK, we’ll side with her on this one. Just eat the $22 and move on, man.
